PROPOSALS to build 22 new homes on a brownfield site near the village of Coychurch have been handed in to the local council.
If approved they would eventually see the development of new affordable properties on land at Waterton Lane.

The site which covers 0.74ha of brownfield land used to be used for material storage and has previously been granted planning permission for residential use.
Access to the land is gained from the A473 Waterton Road and is close to a Starbucks drive through coffee shop and B&Q store on Waterton Retail Park.
The application said: “The proposal is meeting an identified need for affordable housing within Bridgend.
“This will enable local people to stay within the area and contribute to the local community.
“The site rounds off an already established micro community along this area of Waterton, which is an already established and strong community within the Coychurch/Coity area.”
It adds: “The proposed properties have been designed to complement the surrounding area, reflecting the scale, style, and character of existing homes to ensure a cohesive and harmonious streetscape.”
If given the go-ahead the latest submission would feature ten houses with two bedrooms, eight houses with three bedrooms, and four one bedroom flats.
It would also incorporate a landscaping strategy that aims to enhance biodiversity along with improved access for vehicles using Waterton
Lane.
The plans were submitted by developers at Emtrek Developments Ltd in January 2026.
They will now be considered for approval by Bridgend County Borough Council’s planning department in the coming months.
