ORGANISERS of the Cowbridge festival of Food and Drink have said that they were delighted with the number of people who flocked to the event on the bank holiday Sunday and Monday
The holiday sunshine clearly contributed to the success and when the Glamorgan Star visited, there were long queues at every food outlet, as people sampled the huge range of cuisine – truly from around the world.
A festival spokesperson said that some stall holders sold all their stock by early afternoon and, on the Sunday, the main festival site, in the Arthur John & Co car park, extended its opening hours, staying open until 6pm because of demand.
The Old Hall Gardens, with many family hands-on activitie,s including artist workshops, slime making, falconry and pétanque was busy and, at the nearby Duke of Wellington pub, festival-goers watched food demonstrations from talented chefs and business owners.
An addition to this year’s festival was Filco supermarket, which closed its customer car park to set up a marquee and seating area, with food and drink on offer, and with local singer Aubrey Parsons entertaining during the day.
In our last edition, the Glamorgan Star ran a readers’ competition, offering two family tickets as prizes. The winners were Paul Leach (Cowbridge) and Jayne Williams (Barry). Mr Leach and family are pictured on above.
