Barry Cemetery opens doors for walk and talk tours
BARRY Cemetery will play host to three walking tours as part of a Cadw scheme to open up heritage sites across Wales.
Up to 30 people will be able to take part and view the Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery graves from 2pm to 4.30pm on Sunday 5th September.
The historic cemetery is still in use and contains the graves of many distinguished people important to Barry’s history. The refurbished chapel is at the heart of the cemetery.
For Open Doors, there will be three events – walk and talk tours of the cemetery which will inform people on the tour about the cemetery, the people buried within and their stories. The tour will bring together the history of Barry and explain how it all fits together. The tour will include the refurbished chapel, and end with tea and coffee either at the chapel or at the community centre.
Admission will be via the eventbrite ticket booking service which people will be directed to if they contact
