Major Miler Natalie sets a high standard
THE Vale Coastal Ultra event took place along the Welsh Coastal Path recently.
There were three distances to choose from: The Ultra – 32 miles; the Vale Trail – 18.5 miles and the Vale 10 miler, all organised by Run Walk Crawl events.
The attraction of the route was that it followed the Wales Coastal Path along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast all the way to Ogmore-by-Sea.
Local running club Llantwit Major Milers entered runners in all three event distances with Natalie Priest running a phenomenal race to win the 18.5 mile Vale Trail event, which started at 10.30am in the shadow of the viaduct at Porthkerry Park, Barry, and ended at Ogmore by Sea.

Natalie set a new course record of 2 hours 52 minutes to finish first female and fourth overall.
She said: “It was a really tough course with a few really steep ups and downs! But the views are amazing!
“The support along the route and the sense of camaraderie was fantastic! Although I was very glad to get to the finish line at Ogmore for a paddle in the sea as it was a hot day for running!”
Natalie also paid tribute to Dom, Le French coach, for helping her train for the event.
