Mystery artist’s village Remembrance tribute
RESIDENTS of the village of Aberthin woke on Saturday 6th November, to find the large tree at the centre of the village had been decorated in Poppies and a silhouette statue had been placed by the postbox.
Social media posts from local urban artist ‘Taff Guevara’ revealed they were a show of support and to raise awareness for this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The residents of Aberthin have a long-standing reputation for supporting the charities appeal and the artist wanted to add his efforts.

The statuette is of a small child posting a poppy as the soldier plays The Last Post.
Taff explains the poppy is a sign of remembrance and hope, whilst we adults remember the past it is the children who must learn those lessons and who hold the hopes of the future. This is especially poignant as the poppies on the tree were all created using recycled materials by the children of Aberthin.
In a statement to the Glamorgan Star, Taff Guevara said: “The social media post has been shared and liked extensively and the comments and donations have been overwhelming.”
