Family fun to the fore on Boxing Day at Pencoed RFC

PENCOED RFC held a memorial event on Boxing Day – the Mal Summers touch rugby tournament.

It was competitive but fun, with all ages from the club playing in the annual mixed team event. With fathers, sons and daughters playing together, it was an all-round family day with rolling subs and the accent on enjoyment.

Sue Daniel, Mal’s daughter, said: “As a family we want to thank everyone involved in the Boxing Day tournament. Dad would have been thrilled to see so many people coming together playing a sport he loved at the club he adored.”

Rudoph’s Rejects won the Mal Summer Memorial Trophy and the rugby was followed by a barbecue, disco and live band to keep the day going well into evening to celebrate the achievements of former club president Mal Summers.
