PENARTH Town took a step closer to their first Vale Premier Division title since 2008 as they came from a goal down to beat Tynewydd 4-1.
Lewis Union put Tynny ahead before Miller equalised before half time. In the second half, goals from Winton (two) and Hocking ensured all three points. Penarth now need three wins from their final four league games to clinch the championship.
Holton Road are doing their best to keep the pressure on Penarth as they saw off Barry Athletic 5-1. Ben Pearce scored four of the five goals with Williams adding the other. Holton Road sit four points off Penarth and know they must win their remaining four games and hope Penarth slip up.
Cadoxton Barry are third, continuing their excellent start to 2022 as they were victorious over BV by 4-1. Cory James put BV in front but Aeyres and Oram struck for Cadoxton Barry to put them in front at the break. Further goals from Allen and Dalton meant that Cadoxton Barry leap-frogged AFC Rhoose into third
AFC Rhoose were held 1-1 at home by Island Marine. Bryan put Rhoose into a first half lead before Owens levelled the game on the hour mark.
Cogan Coronation and Cardiff Airport played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at The Rec. Hobbs put the visitors in front before Hughes equalised for the host. Jones responded for the Airport to put them 1-2 up but Davies levelled the game and ensured a share of the spoils.
In Division One, the title race continues to heat up as it reaches its conclusion as Sully and Cwm Talwg look like going the distance.
Sully Sports stayed top on goal difference as they came away with a 2-0 victory over St Athan B. Goals from Godwin and Ashton ensured the vital three points in a hard-fought win.
Cwm Talwg saw off BV Reserves 4-2 at the Butts. Davies put Talwg in front before James levelled, but Talwg pulled away with goals from Pembery, Roberts and Jones, before a consolation by Goddard. Talwg are still level on points with Sully at the top but Talwg have played a game more.
Vale Utd closed the gap on Holton Road B in third as they defeated them 2-1. Dingle put Utd into the lead before Colston came off the bench to equalise but James grabbed a dramatic winner in the final minute. Utd now sit two points off third place Holton Road B with three games in hand.
Vale Athletic followed up their excellent cup exploits last week with a 3-1 win over Island Marine B. Goals from Stephens, Chapman and Lewis ensured three points. Athletic sit in sixth spot but are six points off third with three games in hand.
And finally, in the Loosemores SWFA Senior Cup, the final Vale representation bowed out of the competition in the last 16 as St Athan lost to Penygraig Utd in a hotly-contested match.
