As shops have re-opened, the local businesses of Barry High Street have opened their doors back up to the people of Barry and around the Vale. But why do people work and shop on High Street?
Here’s what Barry High Street visitors told us:
“I shop on Barry High Street because it is smaller, the people are friendly, and I feel safe here.” Dianne, works at Shua on High St.“I feel it is important to shop locally as I am a local small business owner myself.” Abbie, from Barry. “We are shopping at Barry High St for a wedding. There aren’t any other shops in Barry that I can get clothes for a wedding from. Barry High Street has a good assortment of shop and the clothes in The Bee’s Knees are all lovely colours.” Samantha and Lynne, from Barry.“I have worked on High Street for eight years; it is lovely working here because everybody looks out for each other. It is a good community, and it feels like a family. High Street is community focused reaching people from all over the Vale. Having my shop here allows me to become a part of my customers’ lives and their celebrations. We are a community.” Fay, owner of Homemade Wales.

Great to see any High Street being promoted, but Barry’s has always been extra special. Shops have come and gone over the years but it always retains it’s community and friendly feel.
