Beachcombing volunteers clear 15 bags of litter from the Bendricks

AN INAUGURAL litter pick has seen 22 bags of rubbish collected at a Barry beach.

Fifteen volunteers took part in the task, organised by Barry Town Council, at Bendricks beach, on Sunday 11th July.

The youngest was only three years old.

The team also collected an array of waste too big for the bags, such as a burnt exercise bike and mattresses.

Barry mayor, Steffan Wiliam also attended and thanked volunteers for giving up their Sunday morning to help.

The initiative is part of Keep Wales Tidy and the Town Council’s commitment to sustainability.

Since 2018, the Town Council has offered litter picking equipment to loan for members of the public wishing to host their own litter picking events.

The equipment can be loaned by community groups, friends, and families.
