County Councillor found not guilty of sex abuse charges

County councillor and ex-teacher has been found not guilty of six accusations of sexually abusing children between 1978 and 1994.

Anthony Hampton, aged 74, from Barry was acquitted by a jury at Cardiff Crown Court today, Friday 24th September.

Judge David Morgan discharged a further 14 charges after the jury were unable to reach a verdict.

The Crown Prosecution Service has 14-days to seek another trial against the ex-mayor on the outstanding counts.
