Lady captain ‘drives in’ at Cottrell Park

SPORT | Golf

This year’s lady captain at Cottrell Park Golf Club, Judith Jessop, took office with the traditional ‘drive in’ ceremony.

It was overcast but dry and she hit a very good drive. The prize for the flag nearest to the golf ball was won by Jenny Knott. This was followed by a nine-hole Texas Scramble competition won by Jenny Knott, Chris Impey and Tricia Davies.

The new captain was clapped into the dining room where lunch was served.  After an enjoyable meal, Judith spoke of her pride at being chosen as captain. She was looking forward to her year and has many exciting things planned and she thanked Cheryl Hopkins for the delightful flower arrangements on the tables.

Helen Evans, the outgoing captain, was presented with a keepsake from the ladies’ section.  Helen thanked Judith for her help during the last two difficult years and wished her well.
