Firefighters extinguish large blaze in Wenvoe
Firefighter crews from Barry, Ely, Pontypridd and Cardiff were called out to tackle a huge tyres and logs blaze near Wenvoe earlier today, Thursday 23rd June.
Residents in the vicinity were urgently advised by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) to keep all windows and doors closed due to large plumes of smoke being thrown into the air.
Firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze involving approximately three tonnes of tyres and logs.
A spokesperson for SWFRS Said: “At approximately 9:01am on Thursday the 23rd of June, we received reports of smoke in the area near Cwrt-Yr-Ala-Road in Wenvoe, Cardiff.
“Crews from Barry, Ely, Pontypridd and Cardiff Central Fire and Rescue Stations attended the scene and worked alongside emergency service colleagues and partner agencies.
“The fire has now been extinguished, but it will continue to smoulder for a number of hours.
“Residents in the vicinity of Wenvoe are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.
“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation.”
