Llantwit Coastguard called to Porthcawl incident

The scene at the accident.

VOLUNTEERS from Llantwit major Coastguard were paged late on Saturday, 31st July, to support Porthcawl Coastguard and Welsh Ambulance Service/HART paramedics with a medical evacuation on Porthcawl sea front.

A man had fallen from a small cliff ledge and sustained multiple injuries.

The casualty was assessed by paramedics and, with spinal injuries suspected, packaged into a stretcher. The Coastguard used rope equipment to take him up the rock ledge to be transferred to hospital by ambulance.

A Llantwit Coastguard spokesperson said: “It was a great multi agency team effort.

“We wish the casualty all the best with his recovery.”
