Penarth cut loose with seven against Vale United Reserves
Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up - Saturday 23rd August
Premier Division: Penarth Town delivered the most emphatic victory of the day, thrashing Vale United FC Reserves 7–0 away from home. Macauley Winton put on a captain’s performance, scoring twice and setting up another.
Island Marine were dominant, shutting out Cadoxton Imps with a solid 3–0 win. Sam Price, Sam Dyer and Josh Kirke scored the goals.
In a tightly contested match, St Athan edged out Vale Madrid FC 5–3 in a high-scoring thriller. Sean Nash hit a hat-trick in the hard-fought win, as newly-promoted Vale Madrid suffered their first league loss in 15 months.
Championship: Barry Athletic Reserves overwhelmed Cowbridge Town with a clinical second half display coming away with a convincing 7–1 away win, Harvey Rollinson scoring a hat-trick.
Vale Athletic FC and Cardiff Airport Vets FC shared the points in a 1–1 draw. Josh Maddocks put Athletic ahead but the Vets pulled level through Darren Townsend’s second half equaliser.
St Athan Reserves cruised past AFC Rhoose Development with a commanding 5–0 victory, Cam West scoring three and setting up the other two in a man of the match performance.
Rhoose Social secured a solid 3–1 win over Peterston Super Ely. Josh Bryan, Chris Morgan and Rory Ellis were on the scoresheet at Ceri Road.
Dinas Powys Development took a well-earned 2–0 win away at Cogan Coronation Reserves, Oliver Foote put Dinas in front in the first half and James Leake doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the second half.
League One: Llantwit Major Thirds beat Island Marine Development 4–1 to register their first win of the campaign, Matthew Nation scoring twice.
Holton Road AFC Reserves defeated Vale of Glamorgan Rovers 3–0 in a confident performance, Tom Holmes with a brace.
Penarth Town Development edged past Ely Rangers Reserves Wenvoe 2–1 thanks to a late winner from Tommy James.
Barry Athletic Development and Sully Sports FC Development played out an exciting 4–4 draw, Athletic came back from 3-1 down to lead 4-3 thanks to 16-year-old Ieuan Creed’s first goal on his senior debut but Sully grabbed a point with a 97th minute equaliser through Ethan McInery.
FC Barry secured a 5–2 win against St Athan Development, Tyler Jenkinson and Jake Card with two each.
Sparta Park thumped Cadoxton Imps Seconds 7-1, Nathan Donnelly sensationally scoring four goals.
Team of the week – While several teams had big wins, Penarth Town’s 7–0 away clean-sheet victory in the Premier Division against Vale Utd Reserves earns them Team of the week. They were clinical, dominant, and made a statement in the Premier Division.
Player of the week – Cam West (St Athan Reserves) A hat-trick and two assists see West directly involved in all the goals in a 5–0 win over AFC Rhoose Development. Honourable mentions: Nathan Donnelly (Sparta Park), Sean Nash (St Athan), Harvey Rollinson (Barry Athletic Reserves) and Macauley Winton (Penarth Town).
