Man charged with murder following death of Pencoed man

A man has been charged with suspected murder following an incident in Pencoed during the early hours of Saturday, 28th February.

David Rogers, 58, from Pencoed was admitted to hospital in a critical condition after the incident, which is believed to have taken place between 12.30am and 4am. He died on Monday, 2nd March.

Liam Walters, 26, also of Pencoed, has been charged with the suspected murder of Mr Rogers and also perverting the course of justice. He is due to appear before magistrates later today – Wednesday, 4th March.

Detectives from South Wales Police (SWP) investigating the incident are continuing their appeal for information. Anyone who was in the vicinity of Felindre Road, Pencoed, between 12.30am and 4.30am on Saturday is urged to make contact if they have not yet spoken to officers.

Detectives would also like to speak to two potential witnesses – two elderly people who are believed to have walked along Felindre Road between 12.30am and 4am on Saturday. 

Motorists are also being urged to their check dashcams for any footage which may be relevant.
