Bowlers on top as Centurions squeeze out a win

THE Sully Centurions First XI hosted Lisvane at Burnham Avenue and won a low-scoring match by 22 runs.

Sully lost some early wickets and were soon 45 for 3 after losing two wickets in the 11th over. Things continued to go downhill, as more wickets fell and it was 65 for 6 in no time at all. It fell to new signing James Haswell to stage a fightback and his 46 was the mainstay of the Centurions innings.

In fact, of the other players, only Rhett Jones (13) and Nick Jones (10) made it into double figures. The total of 160 all out was more than could have been expected at the halfway stage.  For the visitors, Chaudhry (3-35) was the star bowler.

However, batting was to prove to be just as tricky for Lisvane, and a similar pattern emerged, with wickets falling regularly. Again, very few batsmen made it into double figures, with the highest partnership the 10th wicket stand between Harsh and Khan, which added 22 runs to leave Lisvane to finish on 138 all out.

Stand in skipper Lloyd Bruce (3-24) and Nick jones (4-43) took the majority of the wickets, with two for Tom Davies and another from Haswell, to add to his fine display with the bat.
