Dramatic draw after late goals in top of table clash

THE Premier Division’s top two sides clashed as Barry Athletic and Cardiff Airport played out a 2-2 draw in an Easter weekend thriller.
Tyler Bolton opened the scoring for Athletic against his former side before Connor Caton levelled, also against his former side. A dramatic finale ensued as Louis Harding appeared to have given Athletic the victory with a stoppage time goal but the drama didn’t end there as Caton scored his second of the game deep into the same stoppage time. The draw sees Athletic six points ahead of the Airport, albeit they have played a game more.
St Athan picked up an important victory as they saw off Cwm Talwg to leapfrog them into third place. Goals from Kieran Ashton, Lewis Parry and Cameron West saw all three points go to the home side.
A resurgent Cadoxton Imps drew 2-2 with Island Marine and made it just the one defeat in six games since their January signings – arrivals that have made such a difference. Imps now sit sixth, one point behind Marine in fifth.
Vale Madrid continued their recent good form as they edged out Penarth Town 3-2 with Gareth Messer scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot. Vale Madrid have now won four out of six league games since the turn of the year and now have a five-point cushion from the bottom two.
In the Championship, Cogan Coronation remain top of the pile in the race for the title as they defeated Rhoose Social 2-0. Dinas Powys moved up in the second spot as they were victorious by the same scoreline over Barry Atheltic Reserves to move above them in the table. Dinas now sit seven points behind Cogan with two games in hand.
Peterston super Ely came back from two goals down against Cowbridge Town with Jim Madeline scoring the winner in the 92nd minute. Gavin Lewis hit the decisive goal that saw Vale Athletic pick up an important 2-1 win over Island Marine Reserves. AFC Rhoose Development drew 2-2 with Porthkerry Panthers, an important point that lifts them off the bottom of the table.
In League One, leaders Sparta Park edged closer to the title as they thumped FC Barry 6-0, Callum Coleman scoring twice as Park cruised to the win. Penarth Town Development won 5-2 against Island Marine Development to stay four points behind Sparta but Town have played two games more.
Sully Sports Development stay in third as they eased to a 6-0 win over Holton Road Reserves. Callum Murphy struck late on as Ely Rangers Wenvoe held Llantwit Major Thirds to a thrilling 3-3 draw. Barry Athletic Development came out 2-0 winners over St Athan Development, while Cadoxton Imps Seconds moved off the bottom of the table with an impressive 5-3 win over Vale of Glamorgan Rovers, coming back from two down.
