AS MAYOR of Llantwit Major, I would like to congratulate the editor and staff on their successful launch of the new Glamorgan Star newspaper.
It is a long-awaited life line for so many people living in the Vale, especially for those that do not have access to social media.
I have recently been elected as Mayor of Llantwit Major and would like to thank the Town Council and Llantwit Major residents for the kind support that they have shown me in my short time in office.
As someone who was born, educated and lives in Llantwit Major, it is a real honour to have been entrusted with this office for the next 12 months.
It will be a great privilege for me to give something back to a wonderful community that has given so much to me throughout my life.
My nominated charities for the coming year will be youth organisations of Llantwit Major. Many of these organisations have struggled over the past 12 months and are in need of support to survival.
Having this new local newspaper will hopefully give myself and other Mayors throughout the Vale an opportunity to keep residents informed of the work and events that are going on throughout their communities.
Well done and good luck for the future success of this local newspaper.
