Barryfornia returns to Barry Island
VISITORS to Barry Island were able to enjoy a free exhibition on Sunday, 1st September, when ‘Barryfornia’, a one-day pre-90s vehicle and rides event, returned to the promenade.
Described by organisers Rothfink Industries as a California inspired event, the day attracted many exhibitors, independent traders and spectators who enjoyed viewing the many makes of vintage vehicles and models on display in front of a backdrop over Barry Island’s beach and Whitmore Bay.

Several exhibitors received trophy awards in individual categories, including best Split Screen, Best Bay window, scooter, lowrider, motorbike, bus, car, most Cal-look dude and dudette.
First-time visitor to Barry Island, Paul Thomas (46) from St Helens said: “Although the weather was mixed the cars were great. I’ve always been interested in older cars and camper vans so the event was a real bonus for coming here.”
Amanda Peterson (27) from Barry added: “Being a fan of Barryfornia, I’ve attended quite a lot of these over the years and especially liked talking with vehicle owners. You can tell they really love their cars.”
