Penarth RNLI rescue eight stranded on Sully Island

Just before 4.00pm Sunday, 5th September, Penarth lifeboat responded to reports of people stranded on Sully Island.

Using their D-class lifeboat, the volunteer crew launched and found eight people cut off by high tide.

All were safely transferred to shore and provided with words of advice from crew members before returning to station.

The incident follows numerous other similar responses to Sully Island this year.

The RNLI has previously taken to social media asking visitors to check tide times when enjoying the coast to ensure not being cut off.
