Ysgol Bro band is making an impression

A BAND made up of pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg in Barry is building a reputation in the area.
Dagrau Tân is a four-piece indie band featuring Josh Lewis (drums), Elian Davies (vocals, guitar), Steffan Lloyd (guitar) and Rhydian Carnie (bass) from Penarth and Barry. The up-and-coming youngsters sing in Welsh and English and play indie-rock melodies with pure vocals and a hint of grunge.
Recently, the boys played to pupils at Ysgol Pen Y Garth in Penarth (the former primary school of three band members) at the invitation of Ms Bliss, their former teacher, to entertain and inspire the kids on St David’s Day – and showcase Welsh language music.
The band’s bassist, Rhydian Carnie, said: “It was cool to come back to our old school – we loved it here – and it was brilliant to watch the kids rocking out to our music – these are our future fans!”
A recent review of their performance at the ‘Immersed Festival’ in Cardiff said, “With such a professional sound, it’s astonishing to find out that the group are still just 14 and 15 years old.”
