POLICE are appealing for information following an alleged robbery of a £15,000 Rolex Watch and cash in Barry.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police (SWP) said the watch and money was ‘robbed’ from a 40-year-old whilst he was walking from the Family Shopper store on Merthyr Dyfan Road.
The incident occurred between 7pm and 7.30pm on Friday 28th November near a bus stop close to Barry rugby club’s exit.
Police detectives said the suspect was seen on CCTV before the robbery running along Morningside Walk from Elizabeth Avenue and, following the incident, up Merthyr Dyfan Road and possibly back onto Morningside Walk.
He is described as being tall, slim and wearing a dark hooded top with a bright white logo on the back, dark jogging bottoms and trainers with a reflective strip around the base.
SWP Detective Sergeant Andy Coakley said: “This is an isolated and unusual incident.
“I would like to reassure the community that we are conducting a thorough investigation. Whilst the CCTV we have sourced is not of the best quality, we believe that somebody who does know the suspect, may recognise him.
“I believe the suspect would have stood out in the area at this time due to his clothing and demeanour. He was seen on CCTV running to and from where the incident happened.
Police detectives are appealing for anyone with information which might help them identify the suspect and the whereabouts of the stolen watch.
