Barry coastguard warn of the dangers of rock falls
After a man received injuries from a falling rock at Jacksons Bay yesterday, Saturday 17th July, Barry Coastguard has advised of the dangers of sitting too close to Cliffs.
A spokesperson for Barry Coastguard stated, “Our Team were paged to Jacksons Bay after a report of a male being struck by a falling rock, and suffering head injuries.
“He was stretched off the beach and treatment given.
“Also on scene was Chepstow Coastguard, Welsh Ambulance and HART (Hazardous Area Response Team).”
Barry Coastguard gave a warning to people using beaches, “It is very dangerous to be sat anywhere near cliffs. A rock fall does not have to be huge to cause serious injuries.”
To contact the coastguard in an emergency, contact 999 and ask for the Coastguard. If inland, such as river or lake, ask for Fire and Rescue.
