Boxing Day walk has been held for over fifty years
DESPITE the morning mist and mizzle, 34 walkers gathered at the Dinas Powys Village Square for the Annual Boxing Day Walk.
Taking the footpath across the golf course, they were soon heading steeply uphill to the One O’Clock Gate. The Ridgeway path from there usually has the best of views, but this Boxing Day was more of an atmospheric walk with bare trees looming out of the mist.

Passing the magnificent St. Andrews House, once a summer house for a wealthy shipping family, they headed along a quiet lane to St Andrew’s Church. Here is a pink marble gravestone of ‘The Chief Bard’.
A gentler climb took them passed another fine house, Garn Hill, hidden behind trees. Then down to Dinas Powys Common, and the Village Square.
Organised by Dinas Powys Community Council, The Boxing Day Walk fifty and the free Dinas Powys Summer Evening Walks have been held every year for over fifty years.
