BRIDGEND Town Council will be celebrating the military community by holding a free to attend Armed Forces Day event in the town centre.
Armed Forces Day is a national event that takes place on the last Saturday each June, falling this year on 28th June.
It is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.

A council spokesperson said: “Building on the success of Armed Forces Days in 2023 and 2024, this free community event is suitable for all ages. It will feature a military parade, stalls, military vehicles, bands, choirs, and activities including a climbing wall, facepainting, children’s crafts and mobile cave experience.
“A parade led by pipers from the Queen’s Gurkha Signals will start from Caroline Street at 11am and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan will take the salute.
“At 11.30am, the preliminary round of the Mayor’s Award for Best Cadet Competition will take place in Wyndham Street, where local cadets from the Navy, Army and Airforce will demonstrate their marching and presentational skills. Two cadets from each service will be invited back for the second round at 2pm before the cup is presented on the main stage at 2.45pm.
“Entertainment on the stage includes the Bridgend and Cowbridge Rock Choir, Bridgend Ukes, Air Cadets Drum Corps, Sea Cadets Semaphore Display, the Dance Centre Academy, the 2 Eds and Prestige Acrobatics and Dance.”
