Staff are shocked after charity shop break-in
STAFF at the Tŷ Hafan charity shop in Penarth have been left shocked after thieves broke in and stole cash, jewellery and ornaments.
Laura James, head of retail for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, said: “Unfortunately, on Tuesday, 24 October, our charity shop in Penarth was broken into. £260 in cash, valuable ornaments and jewellery were stolen, and we’ve incurred considerable costs replacing and repairing damaged fixtures.
“It is extremely frustrating that this has happened and we are working with the police to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their kind messages and support over this matter. The best way anyone can help us, now more than ever, is to pop in to our Penarth store, say hello and buy something to help us to recoup our losses.
“It costs £5.6m a year to provide vital care and support for children with life-shortening conditions and their families in Wales and these costs are only going up. Every purchase from a Tŷ Hafan shop really makes a difference.”
