A MAN found in possession of a large quantity of cocaine before running away from police officers in a bid for freedom was found in undergrowth by police dog Alfie.
When Shaho Fatah (27) appeared at Cardiff Crown Court, he was sentenced to three years in prison.
Cocaine, with a street value of between £23k and £32k, and around £1.5k cash, was found in the car Fatah was driving on Southern Way, Cardiff, in the early hours of Saturday, 17th February.
In a statement from South Wales Police (SWP), Detective Sergeant Dominic Belotti said: “Officers stopped a blue Range Rover SVR being driven by Shaho Fatah on Southern Way in Rumney.
“He ran from the car into nearby undergrowth but was quickly located by a police dog and arrested.
“Fatah initially denied being involved in drug dealing, but later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine on the basis that he was instructed to deliver the drugs to another person only, for financial reward.”
The SWP statement continued: “We can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming and continue to work with us.
“Anyone with suspicions or information about drug dealing is urged to contact us.”
