IT was Barry Cup quarter finals and the final four emerged from some pulsating cup ties. Holders Penarth Town came from a goal down against St Athan to draw 1-1 but were victorious on penalties.
Vale Madrid needed a shootout win against Dinas Powys Development after an excellent 3-3 draw, Vale went 2-0 up before Dinas pegged them back but soon restored their lead thanks to Cory James but Dinas forced the shootout after equalising through Teifi Jones. But Vale Madrid booked their spot in the last four with the shootout win.
Tynewydd saw off Rhoose Social 3-1 to make it a third Barry Cup semi final in four seasons. After a tight first half, goals from Lewis Slack, Jack Sayers and top scorer Nathan Donnelly ensured Tynny’s passage through.
Cwm Talwg completed the semi final line up with a big 6-1 win over League One Porthkerry Panthers, Jacob Jones notching a hat trick for the Championship leaders.
In the Premier Division, leaders Cardiff Airport came from a goal down against a spirited Vale Athletic side to win 4-2. Dan Chaulk put Vale in front but Airport drew level through Ethan Galsworthy and then ahead thanks to Kyle Henderson. Geraint Boyd hit an equaliser for Vale to make it 2-2, but subs Casey Thompson and Lucas Thomas came off the bench to win it for Airport.
Ryan Escott hit a hat trick as Barry Athletic defeated AFC Rhoose 3-0. Athletic sit second, two points off leaders Cardiff Airport with a game in hand.
Cadoxton Imps stopped a run of six league defeats on the spin to draw 2-2 with Vale United Reserves, coming from behind twice to ensure the points were shared. Vale United Reserves stay third but lose ground on the leaders.
In the Championship, Cardiff Airport Vets stayed in third with a 4-0 win over AFC Rhoose Development in the Ceri Road derby, Karl Steel starring with two goals and an assist.
Barry Athletic Reserves moved up to fifth after a 6-3 away win over St Athan Reserves. Harry Carter scored twice for Athletic to get them back to winning ways.
Jake Gwyn scored a brace as Island Marine Reserves edged Peterston Super Ely 3-2 to move up to seventh spot.
In League One, a late Leo Cummins goal earned Barry Athletic Development a point away at Cowbridge Town in a 2-2 draw and stay third.
Cadoxton Imps Seconds moved up to fourth place with a 4-1 win over St Athan Development, Cam Stewart hitting two goals. Imps Seconds, after losing their opening six games, have really turned their season around now winning five on the bounce.
Ely Rangers Wenvoe moved up to sixth place with a 6-3 triumph over Holton Road Reserves, Adam Coomer scoring a hat trick.
