Fresh appeal for information after the murder of a Pencoed man
Police are asking for a jogger to make contact.
DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a man from Pencoed are making a fresh appeal for information and are asking for a jogger to come forward to assist detectives with their investigation.
David Rogers, 58, was admitted to hospital in a critical condition following the incident during the early hours of Saturday 28th February, but died from injuries on Monday 2nd March.
Liam Walters, from Pencoed, was later arrested and charged on suspicion of Mr Rogers’ murder and appeared at Newport Crown Court on 5th March and remanded in custody until his trial date set for 1st April.
Police have released the below image of a jogger seen near the time of the incident and ask that he come forward to assist detectives with the investigation.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police (SWP) said: “Major Crime Detectives investigating the murder of David Rogers in Pencoed are appealing directly to a man seen jogging along Felindre Road just before 1am that same day.
“They believe he ran past the location of the incident just before the incident happened and may be able to assist their investigation – he is asked to make contact, as is anybody else who may recognise him.
“Officers are also looking to speak to anyone who went to the Chatterton Arms between 7:30pm and 11:30pm on February 27, or Pencoed Rugby Club between 11:40pm on February 27 and 00:30am on February 28.”
