BARRY RFC’s pre-season match at Nantyffyllon tomorrow (Saturday) has been called off as the home side have been unable to raise a team.
This is the third planned pre-season game for the Bombers that has been called off, the previous two, at home to Glamorgan Wanderers and Brynmawr falling victim to the weather as the Reservoir Field pitch was too hard, after weeks without rain, to allow full contact.
A Barry Athletic XV are due to host a Blaenavon Athletic XV on 29th August, and Brynmawr match has been rearranged for the following Saturday (5th September) when Barry’s Youth team will also be in action at the Reservoir Field against Brynmawr Youth.
Barry’s Admiral National League Division Two East Central season is due to kick off on 12th September, with a home fixture against Cardiff Quins, but the WRU is holding an emergency board and council meeting on Monday (25th August) to consider moving the start date following effects of the long dry summer on pitches.
