Sport: BV stay top but lose 100 per cent record

Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up

THE Premier Division leaders Holton Road really turned on the style to make it 13 wins from 13 as they thrashed Sully Sports 7-0.

There were braces from Ben Pearce, Jack Cutajar and Paul Morgan, with Dan Morgan adding the other as Holton Road inflicted a first defeat on Sully in eight games in emphatic fashion.

Island Marine remain six points behind the leaders with a game in hand as they edged St Athan 3-2 in a hard-fought encounter. Jack Blackmore put Marine in front before Ben Boyd levelled before the break. Bradley Walters then converted a spot kick but again Boyd equalised before Blackmore got the winner.

Penarth Town got back to winning ways with their first victory in five games with a 3-1 win over Cwm Talwg. Paul Beedell and Adam Nilsen struck to put Penarth three up in the opening half hour and ensured the three points. The win sees Penarth go fourth.

Vale United sprung a surprise to beat third place AFC Rhoose 4-1 in Corntown. An early red card to Rhoose’s Sam Gammon followed by a quick fire double by Cai James put Vale Utd in control but Josh Bryan pulled one back for Rhoose before the break. In the second half, James completed his hat-trick but it was 10 a side when Curtis Hicks was dismissed for a second yellow, but there was still time for Stimson-Jagger to make it four for Utd.

In the Championship, BV’s perfect record is over, as they were held 2-2 by Vale Athletic. BV, however, had to battle back from two down to salvage a point and their unbeaten record against the impressive Vale Athletic. Marcus Knevett and Ryan Warden fired Athletic into a two-goal lead before BV saw a Tyler Jenkinson penalty saved just before half time. However, BV fought back as Louis Angove came off the bench to pull one back and then Kye Ingram hit the equaliser. The point takes Athletic into second place but still nine points behind BV.

Tynewydd continued their fine form as they saw off Rhoose Social 2-0. Despite Rhys Palmer missing an early penalty, goals from Stefan Ross and Lewis Union ensured the win to put Tynny level on points with second place Vale Athletic.

After winning by seven last week, St Athan Reserves were brought back down to earth with a bang as they were thrashed 7-0 by Barry Athletic Reserves. Doubles from Kyle Booker and Ameer Ihbasheh and one each from Lewis Avaient, Billy Jenkins and Lawerence Walpole handed Athletic Reserves the win in some style.

Holton Road Reserves got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory against Peterston Super Ely. Callum Hewitson, Cameron Leach and Taylor Burford all notched to move Holton Reserves up to fourth place.

Vale Madrid bounced back with a good 4-1 win over St Athan Thirds, David Evans and Tom Webb scoring as Vale Madrid move up to seventh.
