Tragedy as A-level student dies in A48 crash
SOUTH Wales Police are continuing their investigation into the fatal road traffic collision which happened on the A48, The Tumble, Cardiff, at approximately 8pm on Saturday, 6th June.
The collision involved two cars, a grey MG and a black Land Rover Defender.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, an 18-year-old man died at the scene. It has been confirmed that his name is Dominic Luke Bailey from Cardiff.
The driver and passenger of the Land Rover were taken to hospital.
The family of Dominic Luke Bailey, have released the following tribute: “Dominic was finishing his A level exams at the Bishop of Llandaff High School where he had been a pupil for the past seven years. He had been offered a place at University of Malaysia but decided to follow his dreams of seeing the world and go travelling instead.
“There was no one quite like Dominic. He could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was such a clever young man who had his whole life ahead of him. His family are devastated and say life will never be the same again without him.”
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or witnessed the manner of driving of both cars prior to the collision to come forward. They are urging anyone travelling through the area at the time to check their dashcams and private CCTV for relevant footage.
