Lifeboat assists recovery in Bristol Channel

Penarth’s lifeboat crew assisted in the recovery of a stricken motor vessel in the Bristol Channel yesterday, Wednesday 1st September.

After the Free Spirit had left Cardiff, the 30ft boat suffered from engine failure off the coast of England.

RNLI volunteer crew from Penarth were paged to assist just before 6.00pm.

The motorboat was recovered by RNLI Portishead lifeboat, that towed it mid-Channel. Penarth lifeboat safely towed the vessel to Cardiff Bay.

Spokesperson for Penarth RNLI said, “Many thanks to our colleagues Portishead RNLI Lifeboat Station and HM Coastguard – South and West Wales for their assistance.”
