Llangan pupils do their bit for Children in Need
THE pupils of Llangan School recently organised a series of fundraising activities in support of Children in Need.
Staff and pupils took part in a week of events, resulting in £163.70 being raised for the worthy cause.
To kick off the week, the children arrived at school in pyjamas and dotty clothes. The School Council took the lead in the various activities. The fundraising included the sale of Pudsey wristbands, a Bearpee Challenge, and a Just Dance Off danceathon.
Adding an extra layer of excitement to the week, a group of year-4 pupils had the chance to visit the BBC Wales studios in Cardiff. Led by their teachers, they delved into the world of broadcasting, looking at how news, weather, TV shows, films, and radio productions are produced.
During their visit, they were interviewed by Ian H Watkins, formerly of Steps, for Wynne Evans’ show on Radio Wales. The experience included a tour of the News Studio, meetings with news presenter Clare Summers, and witnessing a live broadcast. Mollie, one of Llangan’s pupils, had the honour of being interviewed live on air by Wynne Evans himself, talking about Children in Need. The year-4 pupils raised £200 during their behind-the-scenes experience at BBC Wales.
A school spokesperson said: “The school remains committed to instilling a sense of social responsibility in its pupils and looks forward to continuing its support for charitable causes in the future.”
