THE Glamorgan Star’s very own Wendy Snatchfold will be pounding the streets on Sunday 27th April when she runs her first London Marathon.
Wendy said that she was thrilled (and a little nervous!) to be taking on the challenge, but it was for a very good cause.
She said: “I’m running to support Blood Bikes Wales, a remarkable charity powered entirely by volunteers. They provide vital, free support to the NHS, delivering lifesaving essentials like blood, donor breast milk, sepsis tests, and more between hospitals. Their behind-the-scenes work impacts so many lives, often without us even realising it.
“My aim was to raise £1,500, so I am delighted to have already passed that figure, and I’m hoping to get a real boost before and after the run. Every donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference – not just to me, but to the NHS and countless families who rely on these services.”
As she has well and truly caught the running bug, Wendy recently went to the National Running Show in Birmingham where she met the famous athletes Colin Jackson CBE and the former UK 400m record holder Iwan Thomas MBE.

About Blood Bikes Wales
Bloob Bikes Wales provides a free-of-charge service to six NHS trusts in Wales, and operates from 7pm on Friday evenings until midnight on Monday morning, including bank holidays and even Christmas Day.
It works with Swansea Bay University Health Board (Swansea), Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (Merthyr Tydfil, Llantrisant), Hywel Dda (Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire), Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (Newport, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire), Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (Wrexham and Bangor) and Powys Teaching Health Board (Ceredigion, Newport, Swansea).
Its team at Blood Bikes Wales are all volunteers and has no paid employees. It aims to use skills, time and enthusiasm to help the Health Service in Wales.
