Marathon will be a family affair for Vale MP
This year's London Marathon is being held on Sunday 21st April
VALE MP Alun Cairns will run this year’s London Marathon in support of the charity, Children with Cancer.
Mr Cairns has raised over £100,000 for different charities by completing the last 12 London Marathons. In running his 13th on Sunday, 21st April, he will be joined by his son, Henri, who is making his first attempt at the 26.2 mile course.
Mr Cairns is the fastest MP among current members of the Commons and Lords, with a time of 3 hours 28 minutes, although he comes nowhere near former MP and current Times journalist, Mathew Parris who holds the MP record with a time of 2:32:57.

Children with Cancer has co-funded elements of a ground-breaking clinical trial which led to one of the biggest breakthroughs in the treatment of childhood leukaemia some years ago and continues in this area.
Mr Cairns said: “Children with Cancer does fantastic work and it is a privilege to support such a good cause. The charity funds research and supports children diagnosed with cancer and helps their families cope.
“The stories of the children are both heartbreaking and inspiring. I hope you can help.”
