MP arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit

The MP for Bridgend and Porthcawl, Jamie Wallis, has recently been arrested and released under investigation following an incident in the early hours of Sunday 28th November.

The Conservative MP was involved in a collision with a lamppost at Church Road, Llanblethan a village close to Cowbridge at 1.10am. There were no reported injuries.

A statement concerning the collision from South Wales Police states: “A 37-year-old man from Cowbridge was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit.

“He has been released under investigation.”

A spokesperson for Mr Wallis confirmed the MP had been involved in an accident and was ‘assisting police with their enquiries’ and ‘while this is ongoing he will not be commenting’.

On Friday, 17th December, Mr Wallis’ Facebook page stated the MP has unfortunately postpone all planned constituency surgeries until the New Year as he had tested positive for Covid.
