Barry inn stages a musical charity night

Barry inn stages a musical charity night – By MARCUS STEAD:

AN EVENING OF ENTERTAINMENT headlined by rising musical theatre star Ella Thomas is being held at Tynewydd Inn, Barry, on Saturday, 10th September, to raise money for The Oasis Rose Aimee Louise Charitable Foundation.

Ella, 17, from Tonyrefail, shot to stardom in 2018 when she took part in The Voice Kids on ITV, where she was coached by Pixie Lott.

The same year, Ella finished runner-up in the first ever Wales Junior Eurovision search, and last year she took part in a Kinetic Theatre School production of We Will Rock You, where she played Killer Queen.

Ella, who has also had leading roles in theatre productions of High School Musical, Hairspray and Legally Blonde, will entertain the crowd with popular and lesser-known songs from the shows.

Following Ella’s performance, local entertainer DEANO will get the crowd dancing with a karaoke contest, games and disco classics.

The event starts at 8pm and is free, but those in attendance are invited to donate to the local cancer charity. Organiser John Patrick said: “I’m really looking forward to welcoming Ella Thomas to Barry where we can enjoy listening to her magical voice. She is a very special talent and I’m grateful to her for giving up her time free of charge to support such a good cause.

“There are no tickets or admission fees, but I’d encourage those in attendance to give whatever they can afford to this charity, which is very dear to me.

“The charity is named after Aimee Louise, who lost her brave battle against cancer at the age of just eight back in 2001.

“The aim of the charity is to raise funds to give support to children suffering from cancer, tumours and blindness.

“The charity supports the children and their families in all sorts of ways, including help with bills, manpower and free holidays. It’s all about doing what we can to make things easier and to bring some joy into their lives at the most difficult of times.

“Things aren’t easy at the moment with rising energy and fuel bills, but I’d encourage people to come and enjoy the music and give whatever they can to help this wonderful cause,” he said.
