Nancy celebrates hitting her century
There was a sumptuous family celebration earlier this month when Nancy Davidge of Treoes celebrated her 100th birthday.
A large crowd of family and friends met in Llandow to enjoy the big day and Nancy was delighted to welcome a steady stream of well-wishers.
Among those well-wishers were former members of The Glamorgan GEM, which closed due to Covid. A number of GEM staff came together in July 2021 to established the popular Glamorgan Star, continuing the ethos of the old newspaper.
Former general manager Caroline Attya came to congratulate Nancy, as did Philip Irwin (formerly of The GEM and now senior reporter at the Glamorgan Star).

Nancy was the community correspondent on The GEM, covering Llangan and Treoes. She started in the 1980s and was continuing to drop in snippets of local news even after she passed her 95th birthday!
Philip Irwin said: “Nancy was always a ‘one off’ with her own strong opinions, an eye for local news and a taste for controversy.”

Slightly deaf but still sharp as a button, Nancy enjoyed her day, holding court and meeting friends old and new.
