New chief exec for Bridgend Council
BRIDGEND County Borough Council (BCBC) has announced that Jake Morgan will join the authority in July as its new Chief Executive Officer.
His recruitment and assessment process culminated in an extraordinary meeting of council held on Wednesday, 2nd April.

Currently employed as the Deputy Chief Executive and Corporate Director of Community Services at Carmarthenshire County Council, Jake comes from Gloucestershire. Having moved to live and work in Wales 20 years ago, he has more than 30 years of experience in local government, covering a number of senior roles.
These include leading on regeneration projects and acting as the chair of the Mid and West Wales Regional Safeguarding Board.
Council Leader John Spanswick said: “With his impressive track record and varied experience of working within numerous senior local government roles, Jake is ideally placed to provide strategic leadership alongside elected members as we continue to deliver essential services for local people.
“Not only does Jake possess all of the right qualities to offer BCBC outstanding leadership, he has a clear understanding of the challenges that we face, and will enable the authority to build upon opportunities for protecting and improving services.”
Jake said: “As someone who is driven by a belief in local government’s ability to transform communities and improve people’s lives, I have been impressed by the innovative ways in which Bridgend council has been able to develop new ways of delivering essential services.
“This is an exciting opportunity, and I am looking forward to working alongside the staff and elected members of BCBC to deliver positive outcomes for local residents.”
