All clear given following chemical leak at Dow Corning
PEOPLE LIVING IN Barry, Dinas Powys, Sully and Penarth were urged today to keep their windows and doors closed following a chemical leak at Dow Corning.
South Wales Fire and Rescue attended the scene, though their presence was scaled down soon after the alert was first issued.

South Wales Police (SWP) stressed that the advice to close windows and doors was a precautionary measure while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
A SWP spokesperson said: “The incident is now under control and the ‘all clear’ klaxon has sounded at the site and emergency services have been stood down.
“Thank you all for your patience at this time.”

Dow Corning is a Barry-based international chemical company, and their site is the biggest silicone manufacturing plant outside the USA, currently employing around 630 people.
