BARRY, COWBRIDGE and PENARTH – Planning round up

An application has been lodged to turn a Cowbridge pub into a detached five bedroom dwelling.

Other stand out planning updates in the Vale of Glamorgan over the past week include approved plans to turn a former Barry bank into a Specsavers, and a proposal to turn a former office space into a laser treatment centre being given the green light.

Here is the latest round up of planning applications made to and decided by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Barry:

Plans to develop a plot of land on a residential street in Barry by erecting a new three storey dwelling have been approved.

The three-bedroom end of terrace dwelling, planned for land at 24 Jewel Street will come with a front and rear garden.

The face of one of Barry’s main streets has changed since approval was granted for a former HSBC bank to turn into a Specsavers.

The Specsavers on Holton Road is now open. A decision notice confirming the council’s decision to grant the application is dated 8th August.

Cowbridge:

An application has been made to turn a pub in Cowbridge into a dwelling

The Vale of Glamorgan Council this week published a site notice detailing plans to turn the Cross Inn on Church Road into a five-bedroom home.

The Cross Inn, located near the Glyndwr Vineyard, announced their closure on social media in July 2021.

Penarth:

A building currently used as an office in Penarth is set to be turned into a laser treatment centre.

Planning permission to turn the building to the rear of 1, Machen Street into a centre that offers cosmetic laser treatment has been granted by the Vale Council.
