Police aim to tackle bad behaviour in Barry town centre

Police aim to tackle bad behaviour in Barry town centre:

Police in Barry say they have launched an operation to tackle teenage anti-social behaviour in the town centre – and have warned that ring leaders can “expect a knock on the door” soon.

Barry Neighbourhood Policing Teams Have said they are dealing with an increase in anti-social behaviour in Holton Road and surrounding streets in Barry town centre, where large groups of disruptive young people are congregating and causing a nuisance to the local community.

Police have received several reports of up to 30 young people in their early to mid-teens using intimidating behaviour,  running into shops and pushing over displays.  The police have also received reports of objects being thrown at shop windows and verbal abuse towards people in street.

Local Inspector Mark Henderson said: “We are increasing patrols along Holton Road and the surrounding streets and positive action will be taken against the perpetrators.

“We are also working with our partners in the Vale of Glamorgan CCTV camera room to establish whether other crimes have been committed.

“Many of those responsible and the main ring leaders have already been identified and their parents or carers can expect a knock on the door very soon.

“I ask parents: Do you know where your children are? Where do they go after school?  Please don’t let it be your door that I knock.”
