A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Barry has been given a 23-month prison sentence after he admitted carrying out a serious assault in the town.
Calvin Dawe appeared for trial at Cardiff Crown Court, but prior to the jury being sworn in, he admitted a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on the victim during the attack on Sunday, 27th July last year.
Judge Christopher Felstead also made Dawe the subject of a five-year restraining order forbidding him from contacting the victim.
Previous offences
Dawe has appeared before the courts for more than 40 previous offences including theft, burglary and drug offences.
In January 2018, Dawe was jailed for three years and eight months after he and his then-girlfriend committed a knifepoint robbery at a takeaway in Pontycymer. Dawe had released from prison just 20 days earlier following a previous conviction.
