Singing groups join up for Llantwit celebration
MEMBERS of With Music In Mind from over the Vale came together recently at Llantwit Major Leisure Centre to celebrate Christmas with friends at the ‘Big Christmas Sing’.
Set up eight years ago to combat the effects of loneliness and social isolation in older people, With Music in Mind runs weekly singing and social groups in Barry, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Penarth. For the Big Christmas Sing, all four groups were invited to come along and sing, before being served refreshments by With Music In Mind staff and volunteers.

Members were also treated to festive entertainment from ‘Frank Sinatra’ (Neil Atkinson) and ‘Elvis’ (Wayne Richards)!
Linda, from Llantwit Major group, said: “So many people live alone, it’s important to have a chance to celebrate Christmas with other people. We had a great time!’.
Kate Whitestone, With Music In Mind director, said: “The staff at Llantwit Major Leisure Centre have been particularly helpful, which meant that everyone had an enjoyable time and it was lovely to celebrate in the local community”.
