IT WAS in September 2023 that Rebecca Hawkins joined Slimming World after feeling that her weight was creeping up.
She was the heaviest that she had been. Fed up with seeing photos of herself looking bigger than ever inspired her to do something about it before it got out of control. Now, Rebecca has lost 2 stone 3lbs to reach her target weight using food optimisation and moderate walking exercise.
She said: “Before joining Slimming World, I was a carer for my parents as well as working full time as a self-employed driving instructor, which meant I was sitting all day in work. After visiting my parents after work, I tended to go for more convenient foods when home, due to the time I finished.
“With Slimming World, I learnt to make convenient healthy meals using food optimising and healthy choices during work hours.
“I decided to become a consultant and I truly believe that Slimming World works and the support I received from my consultant Lou at Buttrill’s Community Centre in Barry was second to none. Unlike most diets that end when you reach your goal, Lou and the group continue to support my journey, and I have managed to stay in my target weight range since February 2024.
“Unfortunately, due to Lou’s work commitments she is stepping down and her support and knowledge will be greatly missed. Lou planted the seed to be a consultant so this was the perfect opportunity to take the leap and start the process to becoming a consultant and taking on her groups.
“I feel so much more positive towards the choices that I make as I am never hungry and nothing is off limit. I truly believe that Slimming World can help so many people regardless of the weight they need to lose. Now that I have finished my training, I will be re-launching the Buttrill’s group as a consultant on Friday, 6 September, with two groups starting at 4pm and 5.30pm and I am looking forward to helping existing and new members in their journey.
