Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up
VALE United stunned Barry Athletic by inflicting their first league defeat of the season by 4-3.
First half goals from Dan Hanson, Lewis James and Connor James put Vale in full control. Callum Hobbs pulled one back but Lewis James grabbed his second of the game to restore the advantage. Athletic debutant Ryan Escott grabbed another and then Tyler Lavery scored late on to set up a tense finish but Vale United took the points.
Nathan Donnelly scored his eighth of the season as Tynewydd defeated AFC Rhoose 1-0 away at Ceri Road. The win moves Tynny up to fifth place.
Reigning champions St Athan edged Cadoxton Imps 2-1 at the Buttrills. James Creegan opened the scoring before Dewi Cain notched his eighth of the campaign. St Athan were reduced to 10 men before Dean McCarthy pulled one back from the spot for Imps, who then were also down to 10 men late on. The win takes St Athan into seventh spot with a couple of games in hand.
In the Championship, leaders Cwm Talwg produced a sensational performance to thump Rhoose Social 10-3. Mitchell Thomas scored six, taking his tally to 19 in seven games.
Vale Madrid came out 7-2 winners over Peterston super Ely, Sam Robinson converting two penalties and setting up another in the big win, leaving Vale Madrid three points off Cwm Talwg with a game in hand.
St Athan Reserves romped to an 8-3 victory over Cogan Coronation to move them up to fifth place, Phil Morgan scoring five goals on his return.
Barry Athletic Reserves and AFC Rhoose Development played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. Josh Lane put Rhoose ahead before Reuben Hopkins and Richard Hall put Athletic 2-1 up, but Alfie Robertson levelled for Rhoose. After the break, Matt Lee put Rhoose back in front but Hopkins scored his second of the game to ensure a share of the points.
In League One, dominant leaders Dinas Powys Development secured another double digits win by demolishing Holton Road Reserves 12-0, with George Owens and Michael Lazarou both scoring hat tricks.
Second placed Porthkerry Panthers saw off Cowbridge Town 6-0, Tyler Jenkinson scoring a hat trick, leaving Porthkerry five points off Dinas at the top.
St Athan Development came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Ely Rangers Wenvoe thanks to Nicky Cleave scoring in the 91st minute.
And finally, Alex Mills’ 90th minute winner gave Cadoxton Imps Seconds a dramatic 3-2 win over Barry Athletic Development.
