THREE men from Barry have been sentenced to prison for their roles in operating a drugs line that supplied cocaine across the town.
Ryan Greening, Daniel Laity and Adam Hartery were sentenced to imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, 17th March, after previously pleading guilty to drug-related offences.
The group’s activities were ultimately brought to an end following the launch of police operation ‘Jensia’ by the Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Team.
A detailed mobile phone forensics investigation, which examined messages exchanged between devices, identified Ryan Greening and Adam Hartery as the principal holders of the drugs line, while Daniel Laity and a 17-year-old boy acted as runners, responsible for delivering drugs and collecting cash.
They were arrested on 19th September during an enforcement phase of the operation. Greening was hiding out at Laity’s address and Hartery was arrested at his home address.
The 17-year-old boy who it is believed was involved with the drugs line under duress was safeguarded by South Wales Police (SWP).
Ryan Greening,32, Daniel Laity, 32, and Adam Hartery, 31, were each charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and were jailed for a total of 11 years and nine months. Ryan Greening was jailed for six years, Adam Hartery was jailed for three years and six months, and Laity was jailed for two years and three months.
SWP Detective Constable Bathan Williams, said: “This group was supplying cocaine to their own customers but were also supplying to operatives of other drugs lines, making them a significant supplier in the area.
“Excellent work by our data forensics experts enabled us to identify their roles in the operation and importantly establish that a vulnerable 17-year-old boy was being manipulated and coerced by the group to act for them.”
