Two conclusive wins for Pencoed

PENCOED travelled to Pontymister/Crosskeys Seconds and came away with a seven-wicket win.

Pencoed won the toss and elected to field – a good decision as the bowlers ran riot. Tim Moore, Gareth Williams and Levi McCormick all picked up three wickets during their spells with James Smith taking the other to bowl out the hosts for 76.

A slight tweak to the batting line-up on a tricky track saw Jonny Hill top score with 22* along with knocks in the teens for Richard Mort (17), Ashish Krishan (15) and skipper Jack Frewen (15) to see Pencoed over the line.

PENCOED welcomed Cardiff 4ths and, despite losing the toss, put Cardiff to the sword with quality bowling.

Tim Moore ripped though the top order during a spell of 6-23. He was supported by two wickets from Ieuan Watkins and nine catches in the field. It was hailed as the team’s best bowling and fielding display so far this season.

Skipper Jack Frewen went on to score 58* to lead the team to another big victory and he found support from Matthew Evans (29). There were congratulations to Vishwas Reddy, making his league debut for the Pink and Navys.

Pencoed won by 9 wickets, scoring 94-1 v Cardiff 93 all out. Pencoed 19 points v Cardiff 0.
