Welsh football vets host the European Championships

THE Wales Veterans’ Football Association is hosting the inaugural over-70 and over-75 European Football Championships at the Ocean Park Arena in Cardiff on 8, 9 and 11 June.
Wales will be joined in both age-groups by Germany, Denmark and England.
The event is seen as a ‘curtain raiser’ for the World Cup in Australia in October this year.
Double World Cup winners Wales over-70s will be hoping to add more silverware to their cabinet and the over-75s have a wealth of experience to call upon.
Having beaten Wales over-75s on penalties in last year’s World Cup semi-final in Tokyo, England then lost to Germany in a fiercely-contested final.
Entrance is free so please come along and cheer the Wales team on. The over-70s 11-a-side competition will take place on a full pitch and follow full FAW rules while the over-75s will be 9-a-side.
